This weekend we finally have our first official game. The preseason scrimmages are over with and it is finally time to play an actual game. We have all been waiting for this special moment to play together because we have been getting so much better as a team.
 
I have learned to become more patient with my teammates. I have also started to become a vocal leader every day now that the season is getting closer. We have been focusing a lot on team defense in practice. We have worked on how to guard ball screens and guarding people according to their strengths and weaknesses.
 
This weekend should be very exciting. We are playing two really good teams and this tournament will help with our progress and moving forward as a team.
 
I know my teammates are excited to play and will be ready to go against other opponents other than ourselves. This will definitely be a test for us this weekend but I think our talent and competiveness will help us this play.

As we started our first week of practice, chemistry just kind of clicked automatically. The team gets along very well and we are really competitive towards one another, of course to make each other better. This year's team has a lot of potential and I'm excited to be a part of it. This year will be pretty exciting because there is a lot of talent to be shown. Coach Petree is a great coach and I cannot wait to see this team progress throughout the year. 
 
Midnight Madness was so much fun. Amanda Weaver, Shanna Taylor and I were all in the three point contest against the guys and it was an amazing environment. So many students showed support and were cheering for the girls to beat the guys. It showed that this program has a lot of history and also support from the town. We look forward to starting the season. Make sure to stay tuned for men's and women's basketball this year.
