ARLINGTON – The No. 8 Angelo State football team totaled 508 offensive yards dominating Bacone 56-0 in the finale of the Lone Star Football Festival at AT&T Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Rams (3-0) scored 49 of their 56 points in the first half while limiting Bacone (0-3) to 172 yards of total offense. ASU's defense force three Warrior fumbles held BC to just 80 yards. It is the second straight game the Rams have held an opponent to under 100 yards rushing and the first shutout since holding Incarnate Word scoreless in 2013.
Kyle Washington threw for 218 yards on 15-of-20 passing and tossed three touchdowns.
Trey Green rushed for a career high 110 yards highlighted by a school record 96 yard scamper. It is the longest rush by a Ram in school history and one yard longer than Kyle Fox's 95 yards set against West Texas A&M in 2005.
Donovan Thompson was the leading receiver with 77 yards on three catches.
Grant Aschenbeck recorded eight tackles while
Willie Brown and
Legista Beckford each made five stops.
Clayton Callicutt recorded 2.0 sacks to give him 23.5 for his career and move into third on the ASU career sack list.Â
After a punt on their first drive, the Rams would real off seven straight touchdown drives in the first half. The first scoring drive was three plays highlighted by completions to Thompson and Munson that took the ball down to the Bacone seven yard line.

ASU forced a three and out on the next Bacone drive to get the ball back. Washington continued his proficient passing going three-of-four before Byrd cashed in his second TD of the night on a five yard rush to make it 14-0.
Bacone drove down to the ASU 24 yard line and lined up for a field goal. A rush up the middle nearly blocked the kick but the holder was tackled by
Fred Lawrence for a turnover on downs. ASU went back to work with Washington completing four passes. The final completion was a nine yard catch to
Talon Smith who jumped and was able to score an acrobatic touchdown to put the Rams up 21-0.
Another three and out by the defense forced a Bacone punt. A block in the back on the return backed ASU up to its own four yard line. Green found some pace in the line and carried the ball 96 yards to increase the lead to 28-0
Jeremy Johnson forced a fumble and recovered it on the next Bacone drive at the BC 11 yard line. A jet pass to Tyler Middleton from Washington went 18 yards for the fifth touchdown of the game.
Brett Rasberry scored on the next ASU drive catching a five yard pass from Washington to make it 42-0. The final score of the first half went five plays with Middleton adding his second rushing touchdown of the game for a 49-0 lead going in at halftime.
Jacob Burtch scored the only points of the second half with a nine yard rush in the fourth quarter. It is the first rushing touchdown of Burtch's career.
The Rams will open Lone Star Conference action next Saturday, Sept. 26 in Canyon against West Texas A&M at 5 p.m.Â
