Kyle Lumpkins

Kyle Lumpkins, a former Angelo State Ram student-athlete from 2019–2024, enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Ram Track & Field program.

In 2025, he coached the indoor LSC Champions in the men's (Oleg Ananev) and women's (Kylyie Paden) pole vault. Oleg was also the National Runner-Up in the Indoor National Championship. In outdoors, Paden won the LSC championship, and Ananev was runner-up, with qualifying for the Outdoor National Championship, where they finished 17th and 4th, respectively. Both Paden and Ananev hold the ASU record in their respective events. Mark Burdin, a decathlete for ASU, was also an All-American, finishing 4th indoors and 3rd outdoors.

As a student-athlete at Angelo State, Lumpkins was a three-time NCAA Division II National Championships qualifier, earning national appearances in the heptathlon (once) and the decathlon (twice). In 2023, Lumpkins was a First Team All-American in the heptathlon and the LSC Conference Champion in the Decathlon.

Lumpkins earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and his master’s degree in coaching, sport, recreation, and fitness administration from Angelo State. Lumpkins also holds a USTFCCCA Certification of Sprint, Huddle, and Relay Event Specialist.
