Shelby Wilt
SAN ANGELO – Shelby Wilt and Shelbi Goode have been named to the 2012 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-South Central Region Second-Team.

Goode has made an immediate impact during her first season in an ASU uniform. The junior transfer from the University of Alabama led the Belles with 416 kills this season and was first in the LSC with a 3.78 kills per set average. Goode was named to the AVCA All-South Central team last week after also earning the LSC's Newcomer of the Year award and being named to the conference's first team. She was also a two-time Offensive Player of the Week for the conference.

“This season has been really fun and more than I really expected coming into it,” Goode said. “I've had a great time here. I think I've come in and hopefully provided a good offensive option and balance out our attack.”

Wilt has steadied the Angelo State defense throughout her sophomore season. The Belles were among the nation's elite in defense throughout the season in large part to Wilt's consistent play. She led the Belles for the second straight season in digs and enters the national tournament with 608 digs this year. Wilt was an AVCA All-South Central Honorable Mention selection to go along with being named the LSC's Libero of the Year and to its first-team. She was also a four-time LSC Defensive Player of the Week and is eighth all-time in ASU history with 1,193 digs through her first 69 matches played in her career.

“I really feel like our block has helped out our defense so much this year and it helped me get a lot of digs,” Wilt said. “I always try to play with a lot of energy and with a lot of effort all the time. I always give it everything that I've got.”

Tarleton State's Nikki McNorton joins the two Belles on the second team, while Victoria Jablonska (Texas Woman's) and West Texas A&M's Lacy Hayes and Erin Dougherty were selected as first-team members. The Daktronics award is voted on by regional sports information directors.

The Belles (27-5) return to action at 5 p.m. (MT) on Thursday against Adams State in a quarterfinal match at the NCAA DII South Central Regional Championship being played at the Regis Fieldhouse in Denver, Colo.
