At Lamar University

Led the Cardinals with 745 assists last season which also ranked eighth in the Southland Conference... She played in 88 of 105 sets at Lamar and had 8.47 assists per set and a .329 hitting percentage with 59 kills... Johnson recorded a season-high 50 assists in a five-set win over Houston Baptist where she also added six digs for the Cardinals... Her freshman season also included 45 assists against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 43 against Sam Houston State and 42 assists against Texas-Pan American. Defensively, Johnson had 104 digs (1.18 per set) and 33 total blocks (31 BA, 2 BS)... Her services game produced 12 assists and her .906 serving percentage led the team’s starting rotation.

At Papillion-La Vista High School

Was a four-year starter at Papillion-La Vista High School which is a suburb of Omaha. Her career included being named all-state during her senior season and all-metro during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. During her time on the high school court, her team made the state tournament three seasons and won the district title twice.... Statistically, Johnson racked up 2,212 career assists as a prep player while also contributing 523 digs, 436 kills and 107 blocks. She established a Papaillion-La Vista HS single-match record with 51 assists. She also played her club volleyball for the Premier Volleyball Club in Omaha and was a member of the USA Continental Team.

Personal

Alexa is the sister of former Abilene Christian defensive specialist Caley Johnson who wrapped up her four year career playing for the Wildcats last season. In their only match against each other last season, Alexa had 35 assists in a three-set win for Lamar over ACU. Her mother, Tammy, played volleyball at Southern Arkansas while her father, Greg, played baseball for the Muleriders. Alexa plans on majoring in psychology at Angelo State University.

• My expectations and goals for the 2014 season: To win the Lone Star Conference regular season and postseason tournament, earning us a spot in the 2014 NCAA regional tournament.
• What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of: I am most proud of earning a scholarship to go to college and play volleyball.
• Why choosing to play at Angelo State was a great decision:  It was a great decision because the volleyball team competes at a high level and has potential to make deep post season runs.
• Dream vacation: My dream vacation is to Hawaii.
• Dream career: My dream career is a Pediatric Nurse.
• Special talent I have that people don't know about me:  I am ambidextrous.
• Favorite memory on a volleyball court: My favorite memory on the volleyball court is winning the Lincoln Public Schools tournament my sophomore year of high school.
